Gubkin University students at the 13th All-Russian Congress of Councils of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies
From July 2 to 4, 2025, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan hosted the 13th All-Russian Congress of Councils of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies "From the Depths of Tradition to the Heights of Technology", organized by the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education of the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation for Science and Education with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The event continues the tradition of annual meetings of the country's scientific youth, held annually on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation as part of the Decade of Science and Technology (2022–2031).
The congress was attended by about 2,000 young scientists from all over Russia, including from new regions, as well as foreign countries: the Republic of Belarus, China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Among the guests of the congress were representatives of federal, regional and industry councils of young scientists, student scientific societies, laureates of the Russian Presidential Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists, young scientists - recipients of government support measures, heads and participants of youth laboratories, graduates of the program for the development of personnel management reserve in science, technology and higher education, as well as students and postgraduates from all over the country. Over the course of three days, the guests of the congress took part in a rich business program, which included more than 80 events in the most relevant areas of science in accordance with the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation and the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology. Over 260 speakers shared their experience and knowledge - laureates of the Russian Presidential Prize, representatives of young scientists' councils, student scientific communities, young scientists who are recipients of state support measures, as well as representatives of government agencies and non-profit scientific organizations.
The main objective of the congress is to involve young scientists in the process of scientific and technological development of the country. This objective fully meets one of the three objectives of the Decade of Science and Technology, declared by the President of the Russian Federation in 2022 (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of April 25, 2022 No. 231 "On the declaration of the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation").
The first day of the business program of the congress was devoted to the interaction of science and the state and consisted of 26 sessions. Participants discussed presidential measures to support young scientists, spoke with government officials about legislative initiatives in the field of science and education, discussed the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology and planned the future anniversary V Congress of Young Scientists, and during the practical part of the program they proposed their own creative solutions to pressing issues of Russian science and its popularization.
The key event of the first day and the entire congress was the plenary session "From the Depths of Tradition to the Heights of Technology". The plenary session was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Denis Sekirinsky, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, Rector of the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University Oleg Baulin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Alexander Mazhuga, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Valentin Pavlov, Director of the ANO "Center for the Development of Scientific and Educational Initiatives", co-author of the "NASHA LABA" project and member of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education Olga Tarasova, Professor of the Institute of Chemistry of St. Petersburg State University and laureate of the Russian Presidential Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists, member of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education Irina Timofeeva. The plenary session was moderated by Nikita Marchenkov, Deputy Director for Mega-Science Projects at the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center and Chairman of the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
The second day's program consisted of 27 sessions, including master classes and business games, and was devoted to scientific interaction between the state and communities. Participants discussed the role of student scientific societies, councils of young scientists and student design bureaus, learned more about the support mechanisms of the Russian Science Foundation and about youth laboratories, considered horizontal communication of youth scientific communities and proposed new ideas for the implementation of scientific results in industrial business, summed up the results of young scientists' projects on the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology.
Also on the second day, a panel discussion "Student scientific societies in the formation of the country's scientific and youth policy" was held, within the framework of which the winners of the IV Competition of student scientific societies were awarded, one of which was the student scientific society of Gubkin University, which received the highest expert assessment among other winners in the category of a grant for five million rubles.
The last day of the congress was dedicated to how to build a successful career in science, and consisted of 32 events. On this day, the participants of the congress discussed career growth trajectories, involving schoolchildren in the field of science and technology, promoting and increasing the citation of scientific journals, issues and formats for the use of artificial intelligence in the work of a scientist, patents and copyrights for inventions. Meetings of industry communities of young scientists were also held.
Gubkin University was represented in the event by Ivan Vanchugov, Head of the Department for the Organization of Youth Science and Scientific Events, and Ruslan Shapovalov, Chairman of the Student Scientific Society of Gubkin University, as participants and organizers within the framework of the internship program of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education, launched in December last year and aimed at acquiring new skills and competencies.
Representation of members of the Student Scientific Society of Gubkin University at external venues is implemented within the framework of a subsidy from the federal budget to educational organizations of higher education for the implementation of events aimed at supporting student scientific communities within the framework of the development program of the student scientific society of the university "Uniting Science: from Popularization to Practice".
