On September 6, 2025, Gubkin University took part in the international festival "NAUKA 0+," held at the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in Minsk. The festival, which attracted 38,000 guests and 170 scientific and educational organizations, became a key event in the popular science sphere of the Union State.
Gubkin University's booth generated genuine interest among visitors of all ages. Interactive quests, competitions, and quizzes on energy, oil, and gas were held in a separate university tent, attracting schoolchildren, their parents, and potential applicants. Guests examined core samples, touched the "black gold," asked questions about oil production and refining, and actively discussed sorting waste hydrocarbon materials and ways to protect the planet from the consequences of oil refining.
The "NAUKA 0+" festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025 under the motto "Your Quantum Reality," became part of the UN-declared International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. The Russian site was organized by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and Lomonosov Moscow State University. Along with Gubkin University, representatives from Lomonosov Moscow State University and five other leading Russian universities participated in the festival.
As part of the festival's packed program, leading scientists presented cutting-edge research in microbiology, virology, peaceful uses of the atom, and virtual reality. In the workshop area, visitors had the unique opportunity to learn how to stitch, operate underwater and quadrupedal rovers, try their hand at paleontology, and even launch their own model rockets. The festival culminated in a captivating science show featuring experiments with liquid nitrogen, oxygen, and combustion.
