Gubkin University hosted III All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Liquefied Natural Gas: Problems and Prospects”

On 17–18 October 2023, Gubkin University with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the National Chamber of Engineers of the Russian Federation hosted the III All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Liquefied Natural Gas: Problems and Prospects”.

The conference provided a platform for discussion of the relevant issues and articulation of prospects for the development of the LNG industry in the Russian Federation: import substitution of equipment for the LNG industry, development of technologies for production, storage, transportation and use of LNG, standardization and product quality management, development of the domestic LNG market, the impact of international trends on the LNG industry, etc.

The Conference program included two thematic formats: the Business Community Day and the Science Day. Within the Business Community Day, the representatives of industry and business made presentations and voiced challenges faced by the industry. The participants demonstrated the results of research related to the development of the infrastructure of regional fuel hubs contributing to the growth of the LNG market. On the Science Day, more than 15 scientific papers were presented on the most pressing issues of the LNG industry. Experts, faculty members, postgraduate and graduate students from a number of universities shared their research outcomes.

The conference format, which implied participation of industry and science representatives, enabled to identify practical issues and develop scientific approaches to solve them.

Following the conference, a collection of abstracts is planned to be published.

The conference was organized by the Department of Oil Refining and Gas Processing Equipment and the Department of Gas Chemistry with the support of the Student Scientific Society of Gubkin University.
