Gubkin University delegates at the 13th International Conference and Exhibition for Oil and Gas Resources Development of the Russian Arctic and CIS Continental Shelf

On September 12 -15, 2017 with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation the 13th International Conference and Exhibition for Oil and Gas Resources Development of the Russian Arctic and CIS Continental Shelf was held in St. Petersburg, Russia. Gubkin University faculty members and activists from the Student Scientific Society became participants of the event.

Every two years RAO/CIS Offshore brings together representatives from government authorities, specialists of national and foreign companies and leading scientists to discuss the most important aspects of development of natural resources of the Arctic and the continental shelf.

Over 6,500 delegates and 1,280 companies from 22 countries have participated in the event since its launch. This year Gubkin University was represented by the Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Wells Drilling, Professor Alexander Oganov who represented the report “Challenges of well construction using subsea drilling facilities and ways of their solutions” at a special session.

As part of the conference, for the first time the Youth Forum “Advanced developments of young scientists, specialists and students. Personnel training” was held. Activists from the Student Scientific Society at Gubking University Ivan Zvyagin, Anastasia Kuklina, Ilya Sadilov, Viktor Rusinovich and Sunna Carolina became participants of this Forum. The goal of the Youth Forum is to identify and support promising projects of young scientists that are related to the development of the Arctic zone.

Gubkin University students became active participants of the Youth Forum by making substantial and interesting reports as well as participating in a round table discussion on the offshore employment in oil and gas companies.
