Gubkin University at the III International Scientific School "Chemistry of the Future"

From October 6 to 10, 2025, the III International Scientific School "Chemistry of the Future" was held at Irkutsk Polytechnic University. Members of the Student Scientific Society of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) participated in the scientific school program.

The educational intensive course was part of the "Chemical Designer for Modular Production" project. One hundred students, young scientists, and experts expressed interest in the event. Participants ranged from Moscow to Shenyang.

In addition to Gubkin University students, the school included students from Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Irkutsk State University, Reshetnev University (Krasnoyarsk), Tomsk State University (Tomsk), and Angarsk State Technical University (Angarsk). The business program opened with a panel discussion entitled "Key Chemistry Projects of the Future in the Irkutsk Region." As part of the project track, teams of participants solved cases from the Orgkhim Biochemical Holding, Angarsk Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant, SIBUR-Innovations, and Irkutsk Oil Company. The school also organized excursions around the city and Lake Baikal for the students.

The participants not only expanded their theoretical knowledge but also had the unique opportunity to apply it in practice by creating their own projects. The training took the form of lectures from representatives of leading companies. A distinctive feature was a presentation in English by a speaker from China on modern trends in thermochemistry. At the end of the scientific school, the students presented solutions to their chosen cases and won prizes.

Tatiana Kosmynina, a member of the student scientific society, served as captain of the "Gubkin Girls" team. The team also included Anna Karsukova, Elizaveta Smirnova, and Anastasia Shefer (group CHTM-25-04). The girls took third place in the case study "Development of a Mobile Modular Technology for the Production of Antifoam Additives in Drilling Fluids Based on Forest Chemical Products" presented by JSC NK-Irkutsk.

Representing members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is being implemented through a federal budget subsidy to higher education institutions for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific communities, as part of the university's Student Scientific Society development program, "Uniting Science: From Popularization to Practice."
