Gubkin Researchers at the XV International Scientific Conference "GEOCAVKAZ-2025"

From October 6 to 8, the XV International Scientific Conference "GEOCAVKAZ-2025" was held at the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute (STU) in Vladikavkaz. The conference was organized by the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute (STU) and the M.D. Millionshchikov State Petroleum Technological University, along with the participation of several leading Russian and international scientific organizations.

The conference provided a platform for the exchange of experience between researchers from various regions of the country. The focus was on contemporary issues in the geology, geophysics, and geoecology of the North Caucasus. Guests and participants were given tours of the historical and natural landmarks of Vladikavkaz and North Ossetia, which contributed to the strengthening of scientific and cultural ties.

The participants were welcomed via videoconference by Dzhambulat Umarov, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Chechen Republic, and Magomed Mintsaev, Rector of the Millionshchikov State Petroleum Technical University. Vladislav Zaalishvili, Scientific Director of the Geological Research Institute of the VSC RAS, also noted Ibragim Kerimov's contribution to the development of geological science, particularly during his tenure as Rector of the Millionshchikov State Petroleum Technical University.

The breakout sessions discussed current issues in the geology and geoecology of the North Caucasus. Scientific seminars and roundtable discussions were also held to discuss promising research areas. Gubkin University was represented at the conference by student scientific society members Georgy Misetov (group GI-23-04) with a paper on "Modern Trends in Geosteering Using Logging Data During Horizontal Well Drilling" (supervised by Maria Srebrodolskaya, PhD, Deputy Head of the Department of Geophysical Information Systems for Research) and Aisha Eskerkhanova (group GEM-25-03) with a paper on "Features of the Lithological Structure of Upper Cretaceous Deposits in the Western Part of the TKKP" (supervised by Olga Postnikova, Professor of the Department of Lithology). Following the conference, a collection of scientific materials is planned for publication for use in the educational process at higher education institutions.

Representation of members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is being implemented through a federal budget subsidy to higher education institutions for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific communities. This program, titled "Uniting Science: From Popularization to Practice," is part of the university's student scientific society development program.
