First day of the International Forum "Oil and Gas - 2025"

On April 21, 2025, the first day of the International Forum "Oil and Gas - 2025" was held at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University).

As part of the events dedicated to the grand opening of the International Forum "Oil and Gas - 2025", a strategic panel session was held on the topic "Energy Strategy of Russia: Experience of Interdepartmental Implementation of Key Fuel and Energy Complex Projects". During the session, welcoming remarks were read from First Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Dmitry Tetenkin. Also, a welcoming speech was made by the President of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia Gennady Shmal.

The session was moderated by General Director of the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of Russia Alexey Kulapin.

The speakers discussed the prospects for the development of the oil and gas sector within the framework of the recently adopted energy strategy, the introduction of new technologies in the industry, and personnel training. Participants were able to learn about new opportunities for the implementation of scientific projects at universities and companies by young specialists, as well as plans for the development of interaction in the industry between the state, companies and universities.

The exhibition of developments by university scientists and specialized companies in the fuel and energy complex has begun. During it, companies and representatives of the Gubkin University demonstrated their achievements and developments in the fuel and energy complex.

The program then included a round table entitled “Environmental Well-Being – the Path to Sustainable Development”. The event was held in the format of an open lecture hall and became an important platform for exchanging experiences between representatives of industry, scientific and educational communities, environmental organizations, and government bodies. The main goal of the round table was to discuss modern challenges of sustainable development and the integration of environmentally oriented approaches into the activities of companies in the fuel and energy complex. Seventeen reports were presented during the meeting. Participants presented practical cases, research projects, and conceptual approaches covering a wide range of topics – from corporate programs for the conservation of biodiversity and environmental regulation to the decarbonization of the oil and gas sector and environmental impact assessment in coastal and marine zones.

Speakers included representatives of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, ANO "Clean Arctic", JSC "Zarubezhneft", Financial University, MGIMO MFA of Russia, HSE, RANEPA, Gubkin University, Moscow State Law University and other organizations.

A round table of members of the Youth Council of the Oil and Gas Industry under the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation was held in parallel, during which they discussed the work plan and coordination of the council for 2025, during which it is planned to involve talented youth of the oil and gas industry in scientific, social and professional activities.

Also on the first day of the forum, practice-oriented master classes were held. IT Director of the international holding "Special Systems and Technologies" Valentin Kaskov spoke about the possibilities of automating the engineering of extended objects using machine learning technologies. The curator of the information support project and developer of the TechExpert reference systems (Consortium Kodeks) Natalia Kashirina presented solutions for automating the process of technical documentation standard control using the TechExpert reference systems.
