An activist of the university's student scientific society is a member of the panel of judges of the XV All-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists

From July 24 to August 4, 2025, the XV All-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists was held in Perm. Gubkin University was represented at the event as a judge in geological competitions, contests and a scientific and practical conference within the framework of the Olympiad by a member of the student scientific society, senior laboratory assistant of the Department of General and Oil and Gas Geology Daniil Bazeev.

The All-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists is held with the aim of fostering patriotism, love for the native land, and a careful attitude towards nature and mineral wealth of Russia. During the Olympiad, the following tasks are solved:
- promoting the activities of youth geological associations (parties, teams, clubs, young geologists) as a form of additional education, professional orientation and development of the civic position of students;
- sharing experiences among students and leaders of youth geological associations in order to rationalize their educational and scientific activities in the field of Earth sciences;
- summing up the work of youth geological associations, sharing experiences in holding geological events: hikes, Olympiads, schools, etc.;
- testing the knowledge of young geologists, their practical skills and abilities in independent research and exploration work in geological and environmental areas.

This year, the Olympiad brought together almost 300 schoolchildren from 29 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. For almost two weeks, young geologists competed in theoretical, practical, creative and sports competitions.

The main geological competitions of the Olympiad were held in the following areas: geological route, geological section, paleontology, mineralogy and petrography, hydrology, radiometry, placer sampling, oil and gas, safety principles, organization of a field site and description of a geological monument.

As part of the Olympiad, schoolchildren also took part in a scientific and practical conference, creative competitions, and an excursion to cultural and geological sites of the Perm Territory.

A member of the student scientific society, senior laboratory assistant of the Department of General and Oil and Gas Geology Daniil Bazeev, as a member of the jury of the Olympiad, checked the works and assessed them at six geological competitions, including: geological route, paleontology, mineralogy and petrography, placer sampling, oil and gas, safety principles, as well as at competitions and a scientific and practical conference.

The representation of members of the student scientific society of Gubkin University at external venues is implemented within the framework of a subsidy from the federal budget to educational institutions of higher education for the implementation of events aimed at supporting student scientific communities within the framework of the program for the development of the student scientific society of the university "Uniting Science: from Popularization to Practice".
