A university student at India Energy Week
From January 27 to 30, 2026, India Energy Week (IEW) was held—a global industry conference dedicated to the energy transition, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and investors. Margarita Gelyuta, a student in the UT-22-08 group and a representative of the International Committee of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society, participated in the conference.
The conference was divided into sections: strategic (discussing policy, investment, and partnerships) and technical (innovation, technology, and case studies). The exhibition occupied a vast area with 11 thematic zones and national pavilions. Key topics included industrial decarbonization, hydrogen energy, bioenergy, grid modernization, and the role of gas as a transition fuel.
The event brought together over 550 speakers, over 2,500 delegates, and 75,000 visitors. Participants included the Government of India, energy ministers from various countries (including representatives from the Middle East, Africa, and South America), heads of major international corporations, investors, and representatives of technology startups.
Most notable was the open dialogue between Indian government officials and private sector representatives. The government actively supported innovation and startups, and nominations were made across various sectors. IEW provided direct access to India's new strategic energy documents, in particular, the draft National Electricity Policy (NEP). Analysis of these documents is critical for understanding future priorities and potential opportunities for Russia.
Margarita Gelyuta visited the exhibition and attended lectures and business meetings with representatives of various companies, including Russian ones. Margarita Gelyuta notes that participating in the conference was an invaluable experience for her, and she gained a wealth of information on the international energy sector.
