On July 13, 2026, the 3rd Gubkin Science and Technology Festival opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It was dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist and academician Ivan Mikhailovich Gubkin.
The festival was organized by the Navashinskaya Centralized Library System, a municipal budgetary cultural institution, with the support of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Navashinsky Municipal District Administration, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The festival opened at the Ozero Svyato children's health camp in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. More than 150 schoolchildren aged 7 to 16 participated in the event.
The program included a scientific and educational quest, during which schoolchildren learned about the life and scientific work of Academician I.M. Gubkin, as well as his significant contribution to the development of Russian petroleum geology. Participants enthusiastically examined mineral samples and oil-saturated rocks.
The festival promotes scientific knowledge among the younger generation, introduces schoolchildren to the history of petroleum geology, and preserves the memory of Ivan Mikhailovich Gubkin's scientific legacy.
