10th International Youth Scientific Conference "Tatarstan UpExPro 2026"
From April 9 to 11, 2026, the 10th International Youth Scientific Conference "Tatarstan UpExPro 2026" was held at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technology of Kazan Federal University.
The event brought together undergraduate, graduate, and young professionals from various universities and organizations across the Russian Federation and other countries.
Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Oil and Gas Technologies, Environmental Management, and Earth Sciences at Kazan Federal University; Andrey Terekhin, Deputy Director for Educational Activities at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technology; and Vladislav Sudakov, Head of the Scientific Society of Petroleum Engineers at Kazan Federal University and Deputy Director for Marketing at the Gazpromneft-KFU Scientific and Educational Center, who introduced the conference program to the participants.
The conference included a roundtable discussion examining the activities of student scientific societies at various universities. Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) students Maxim Suetenkov (group RG-23-08) and Amir Kashapov (group TR-22-07), representatives of the International Committee of the Student Scientific Society of Gubkin University, actively participated in the roundtable. A case championship was also held, in which Ivan Fedkin (group RNM-25-09), a student from the Faculty of Oil and Gas Field Development, participated.
Students from Gubkin University also presented papers at the conference.
In addition to breakout sessions, participants enjoyed lectures from leading oil and gas companies, a technical case study on innovative drilling and production solutions, an intellectual quiz from a partner company, the "Tatarstan UpExPro 2026" case championship, and tours of the Kazan Federal University/National Center for Mineral Resources and the A.A. Shtukenberg Geological Museum.
Following the conference, winners and runners-up were determined for each topic. Sponsors and partners also established additional nominations for authors of the best scientific papers. All participants received certificates, and the winners and runners-up received diplomas and commemorative gifts.
Representation of members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is part of the university's Student Scientific Society development program, "Strategy for New Discoveries."
