On June 15, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Labor published a national ranking of universities by graduate employment in the field of "Engineering, Technology and Technical Sciences" (including oil and gas). Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) entered the top 10 of the ranking, among industry universities in the oil and gas sector, the university took first place.
"Throughout its history, Gubkin University has paid great attention to the connection of both educational programs and research work with the current tasks of the industry, the needs of leading enterprises. It is no coincidence that the university has become a pioneer in the creation and use of digital twins of technological objects in the educational process: a virtual field, an oil refinery, and others. This is dictated by current demands for the training of graduates," said Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University.
According to Gubkin University monitoring data for 2025, the salary growth of university graduates during the first two years after graduation was 30%.
When compiling the national ratings, the Russian Ministry of Labor took into account the data of 485,827 graduates of 1,018 universities in the country, in particular, the share of full-time graduates who found employment in the second year after graduation and the average monthly median salary for the second year after graduation. The ratings were prepared on the instructions of the President of Russia based on data from state information systems. Information on the number, specialties, and forms of education of graduates comes from Rosobrnadzor, and on salaries from the Social Fund.
