Gubkin University Becomes Russia's Leader in Scientific Research Among Industry Universities

Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) has become Russia's leader in scientific research activities among industry universities in the 16th annual National Ranking of Russian Universities 2025 (NRU-2025) of the Interfax Group.

When assessing scientific research activities in the National Ranking, the scientific productivity of employees and the citation rate of their articles, funding for R&D conducted at the university, the university's contribution to the formation of the country's scientific and educational elite, and a range of educational programs for training highly qualified research personnel were taken into account.

Gubkin University has scientific and educational centers for new information and analytical technologies, "Industrial Chemistry" and "Bituminous Materials", the Institute of Rock Physics, and the Research Institute of Drilling Technologies, which develop new technologies and materials for enterprises in the oil and gas sector.

The volume of research work at the university is more than 1 billion rubles per year. Over 30% of the teachers are employees of industry companies and research centers created jointly with PJSC NK Rosneft, PJSC Gazprom, etc.

In total, the activities of 389 universities in Russia were assessed within the framework of the NRU-2025 project. The rating includes all the country's high-status universities: 29 national research universities, 10 federal universities, 33 flagship universities, as well as 145 universities participating in the Priority 2030 program. In addition, the activities of 22 non-state universities were assessed.

Earlier, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) entered the top 10 of the national ranking of universities for employment of graduates of the master's degree program in "Engineering, Technology and Technical Sciences" (including oil and gas), published by the Ministry of Labor of Russia on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. Among the industry universities in the oil and gas sector, the university took first place.
