Gubkin University among the leaders among industry universities in Russia in terms of demand for graduates
Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) has become the leader in Russia in terms of demand and quality of graduates' careers among industry universities. This is evidenced by the data of the RAEX-100 ranking of Russian universities, which was presented on June 3, 2025, at the XIII Annual Forum of Universities "The Future of Higher Education".
Bauman Moscow State Technical University, RANEPA, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, HSE University, MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and others entered the top 20 universities in Russia in terms of demand for graduates. In the all-Russian ranking of universities whose graduates have built the most successful careers, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) is ranked first among the universities whose graduates have built the most successful careers. Gubkin University took 11th place, entering the top 15 strongest universities in the country and becoming the only industry university to make it into the top 20.
When preparing the rating, RAEX took into account the intensity of cooperation between universities and employers and the quality of graduates' careers. In 2025, the rating agency for the first time added such a criterion for assessing career success as "the number of graduates holding senior positions in regional executive bodies" and expanded the range of federal government bodies where the education of senior management was analyzed.
In the 2024/2025 academic year, Gubkin University attracted more than 200 fuel and energy companies for events to promote graduate employment. The university's partners include PJSC Gazprom, PJSC Gazprom Neft, PJSC NK Rosneft, PJSC Transneft, PJSC NK RussNeft, JSC Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R, PJSC NOVATEK, JSC Rosgeo and others.
The university's graduates include the founder and chairman of the board of directors of the Safmar Group Sergey Gutseriev, former Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy, General Director of PJSC Tatneft named after V.D. Shashin Nail Maganov, former General Director of the China National Petroleum Corporation Wang Tao and others.
In the all-Russian ranking of universities RAEX-100 in 2025, Gubkin University also improved its position compared to last year, moving up to 27th place.
In April 2025, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) took first place in the RAEX subject ranking of universities in the field of "Oil and Gas Engineering". The rating agency assessed the contribution of universities to education, science and social development.
