Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

On June 1-3, 2017 the Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov attended St. Petersburg International Economic Forum where he held a series of meetings with Russian leaders and signed several strategic partnership agreements in training highly-qualified personnel for the oil and gas industry, internships and practical trainings for students.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is the annual business event in Russia held in St. Petersburg since 1997 under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The mission of the Forum is to become a practical instrument for businesses which helps to overcome geographic and information barriers separating Russia and other countries.

This year the Forum was attended by 12,000 participants, including 39 ministers of foreign countries and 870 company leaders. The main topic of the Forum was the search for a new balance in the global economy.

The Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov held several working meetings with the heads of federal subjects of Russia and top managers of Russian and foreign oil and gas companies and signed agreements in the area of science and education. Viktor Martynov conducted negotiations with the Managing Director of Nord Stream AG Alexey Zagorovskiy, and the parties agreed on cooperation in the area of training professional personnel and fulfilling the research and academic potential of the University in order to solve the company's leading objectives. The framework agreement on cooperation was also signed with the Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug Yugra Natalia Komarova and the General Director of Caspian Pipeline Consortium Nikolay Gorban in training and retraining highly-qualified personnel, organization of internships and pre-graduation practical trainings for students at company’s facilities.

In addition, Viktor Martynov met with the Vice-President of Chevron Corporation in Russia Sergey Kuznetsov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz Alisher Sultanov, the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Shell Ben van Beurden, the Chairman of Shell Russia Olivier Lazar and the Deputy Director of Rosgeo Dmitry Gavrilov, and discussed the prospects of joint projects in the area of science and education.
