The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation visited Gubkin University

On 29 September 2020, Mr. Dulamsuren Davaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation visited Gubkin University.

Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, and Professor Alexander Maksimenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs, held talks with Mr. Dulamsuren Davaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation. The meeting was aimed to demonstrate the academic potential of Gubkin University, including the use of available infrastructure in the educational process, as well as to discuss cooperation in science and education between Gubkin University and Mongolia. Training, advanced training and retraining of specialists in operation and maintenance of gas pipelines and system for launching gas projects, including research and development, became the key issues for discussion. The topic of the talks was directly related to the construction of a long distance pipeline through Mongolia to China within the framework of the agreement between the Russian Federation and Mongolia.

The construction of a long distance pipeline was also discussed during the videoconference held between Mr. Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors at Gazprom, and Mr. Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Prime Minister of Mongolia, and followed by signing of the Memorandum of Intent between the Russian Federation and Mongolia on the establishment of a special company to develop technical economic feasibility study for the construction and operation of the main gas pipeline.

During the meeting, Mr. Dulamsuren Davaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation, noted the importance of the project for the construction of the main gas pipeline and training of specialists for its maintenance.

As a result of the visit, it was agreed to further cooperate in education and science, and organize working meetings to discuss issues relevant to recruitment of Mongolian citizens for studying at Gubkin University and further involvement in project implementation.
