Gubkin University joined the Consortium of Universities "NEDRA”

On 22 October 2020, Mr. Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, signed an order to establish the Consortium of Universities "NEDRA". Gubkin University became one of 14 Russian universities which joined the Consortium.

This Consortium is a public and professional association of universities, which train specialists for the mineral resources sector. The main goals of this association are to increase the level of adaptation of higher educational institutions to the demands of the labor market and further integration of large specialized companies, ministries and universities; to develop a unified scientific and educational environment, including through the unification of educational standards, and equal access for members to modern educational and scientific infrastructure.

The joint efforts of universities will also be aimed to support young talented researchers among graduate and postgraduate students, and to enhance teacher competencies. Large companies operating in the real sector will be engaged to implement the ideas and solve the challenges of the Consortium.

At the first stage, the new association united 14 universities, including Gubkin University, Mining University, Almetyevsk State Oil Institute, Grozny State Oil Technical University named after Academician M.D. Millionshchikov, Tyumen industrial University, Kuzbass State Technical University named after T.F. Gorbachev, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University for Geological Prospecting, North Caucasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Ural State Mining University, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, Ukhta State Technical University and Yugra State University.

It is expected that the Consortium will join up to 140 universities, which offer training in the areas related to mineral resources sector (over 10%).
