Gubkin University Develops Cooperation with Mongolia in the Field of Energy Industry Training

A delegation from Gubkin University conducted a working visit to Mongolia from March 1 to 9, 2026, to conduct career guidance for Mongolian youth. The visit, which was attended by Alexander Shcherbina, Head of the Department for International Students, and Oksana Magaril, Deputy Head of the Department, was aimed at promoting Russian higher education in the oil and gas industry, which is particularly important in the context of the large-scale construction of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline.

This project, strategically important for regional energy supply, will require the involvement of qualified personnel in various fields, highlighting the importance of cooperation in education.

On March 4, 2026, the Gubkin University delegation met with Alexey Evsikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia. During a productive conversation, prospects for deepening cooperation in higher education and scientific research were discussed, including organizing academic exchanges between Russian and Mongolian universities. Particular attention was paid to joint educational projects aimed at improving the quality of training for young specialists.

On March 5, 2026, a meeting was held with Valeria Kilpyakova, Director of the Russian House in Ulaanbaatar, and Mongolian high school students from the joint Russian-Mongolian School No. 3 in Ulaanbaatar and the Ulaanbaatar branch of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. They also visited School No. 49 in one of the capital's yurt districts. The students were introduced to undergraduate and graduate programs in demand in the modern labor market, with an emphasis on engineering education in the energy sector. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for extracurricular activities, student clubs, and sports sections.

In 2021, Gubkin University was awarded Mongolia's highest state award, the Altan Gadas (Polar Star) Order, for its significant contribution to strengthening cooperation in various fields.
