Gubkin University and MGIMO University open Joint Master's Degree in International Management

On July 1, 2016 the Rector of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas Viktor Martynov and the Rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Torkunov signed an agreement on cooperation in the area of training specialists for international energy business.

The agreement provides for training of specialists in the field of energy diplomacy, international law, economics, finance, management, public relations for the benefit of public institutions and leading Russian companies from the fuel and energy complex; development of new areas of training specialists in the field of international energy cooperation; implementation of joint Master's degree programs and continuing professional education.

The program starts in September 2016. Upon graduation, students will receive two university degrees – from MGIMO University and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. This program is developed in partnership with Joint-Stock Company Transneft for employer-sponsored training of specialists.

"Today, our international relations are interconnected with what happens in the oil and gas industry, these activities influence each other. Academic staff of our universities has gained professional competence recognized in Russia and worldwide. Our educational technologies combined within the framework of one educational program will give new quality for unique training of specialists who are ready to work in the rapidly changing conditions of the international energy market, to rely on developed technical and engineering competences in their decisions", - said the Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov.

"All major breakthroughs take place at the interface between science and the humanities, while adopting multidisciplinary approach. In this context, our network cooperation between universities for implementation of a joint Master's degree program goes in line with modern educational trends in training multi-functional personnel capable to manage complex oil and gas infrastructure and large strategic projects on the national and international scale," noted the Rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Torkunov.
