University students at the international summer school of the South China University of Technology

From July 6 to 20, 2025, students of the Faculty of Integrated Safety of the Fuel and Energy Complex Sofia Mikho, Margarita Astapenko, Alina Chubabria, Anastasia Bykovskaya and a student of the Faculty of Design, Construction and Operation of Pipeline Transport Systems Alexey Nizhegorodov, accompanied by the head of the department (basic) of international cooperation in the field of security at Gubkin University Dmitry Medvedev, took part in the international summer school "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" (SCUT-2025).

This summer program is held for the second time on the basis of the international campus of the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou (China). In 2025, 125 students from 16 countries took part in this summer school.

During the summer program, students attended a course of lectures on the use of artificial intelligence in modern information systems in heavy industry and energy, as well as additional lectures on the prospects for using renewable energy in China and neighboring countries. In addition, students visited the largest companies in the region (Midea, Aion) and participated in specialized master classes.

In addition to the educational component, the summer school included a visit to the historical sights of Guangzhou, as well as classes in Chinese calligraphy and culture.

Gubkin University sent students to participate in this summer program for the first time, and Gubkin students showed themselves both in the educational part and in the creative and cultural components of the program, preparing a creative performance in Chinese at the closing ceremony. Gubkin University students also told participants from other countries about Russian traditions, culture and national cuisine.

At the closing ceremony, Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Department (Basic) of International Cooperation in the Sphere of Security, spoke on behalf of the invited teachers, noting the high level of organization and thanking the South China University of Technology for its hospitality.

Following the program, Mai Junhong, Vice-Rector of the South China University of Technology, solemnly presented the students with certificates for successfully passing the final tests and completing the SCUT-2025 international summer school.
