IV Marathon "Energy of Soft Skills"
On December 10, 2025, the IV Marathon "Energy of Soft Skills" took place in the foyer of the Gubkinets Palace of Culture. It was a vibrant event that brought together Gubkin University students in a pre-New Year atmosphere of development, creativity, and teamwork. The event was traditionally organized by the Center for Assessment and Development of Student Competencies.
Teams from the Gubkin University Student Trade Union and Student Leadership Committee gathered to improve their soft skills. Participants not only developed leadership skills to improve the work of student organizations but also demonstrated creativity by creating New Year's decorations in the style of their departments.
"On December 10, we took part in the IV Marathon for the Development of Cross-Professional Competencies, "Energy of Soft Skills," designed for student leaders and trade union leaders from the university's academic groups. The event was aimed at developing our communication, management, and creative skills. First, we met the team members from our faculty and shared interesting facts about ourselves. In the second round, we completed the stations "Responsibility," "Communication," "Critical Thinking," and "Motivation," for which we received the necessary materials for the third, creative round, where we created a Christmas tree ornament reflecting the symbols of our faculty and university. We created an excellent ornament—an oil rig with the emblem of the Faculty of Integrated Safety of the Fuel and Energy Complex and Gubkin University, with a flame inside, symbolizing a kerosene lamp. Unfortunately, our team didn't win a prize, but we're not upset, as we gained more from the event—new acquaintances, positive emotions, and unforgettable experiences. During this time, we became very close, working together to solve emerging problems, and that's the most important thing!" said Daria Shavitova, group leader of KH-25-05, sharing her impressions of the marathon.
"The event was so exciting, I didn't even notice how time flew by. My team really enjoyed it; the tasks and the collaboration on the toy helped us bond," noted Tatyana Kudryashova, Chair of the Faculty of Engineering Mechanics' Student Leadership Committee.
"It was a wonderful experience, during which I was able to work with the students on interesting tasks. Special thanks to the organizers for the action-packed program and truly awesome prizes. We're already looking forward to the next event from the Competence Center!" said Boris Ilyenkov, Chair of the Faculty of Oil and Gas Field Development's Student Leadership Committee.
What was memorable about the marathon:
- Developing cross-professional competencies through practical tasks;
- Creating unique New Year's decorations reflecting the spirit of each faculty;
- Strengthening teamwork among activists.
The marathon gave participants valuable experience that they can apply in developing student organizations at the university.
