Gubkin University Representatives Attend International Eco-Volunteer School
From September 18 to 22, 2026, the International Eco-Volunteer School, organized by the Interregional Environmental Public Organization "EKA," took place in Dushanbe.
Representatives from Gubkin University participated in the inaugural International Eco-Volunteer School. Anna Zenovskaya, a PhD student (group ITA-25-04), and Ekaterina Zavrazhnykh, an administrator in the Department for Organizing Youth Science and Events, shared their experience in organizing a student environmental movement and supporting the community with colleagues from the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the event, participants learned about environmental initiatives in Tajikistan and visited the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, as well as the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan. Additionally, a field trip to the Karatag Gorge was organized, where participants were introduced to a project aimed at restoring the trout population.
The program focused on the exchange of experience among participants and the sharing of recommendations for developing their own environmental initiatives. Organizers and participants exchanged ideas on how to grow eco-communities, engage people in volunteer projects, and utilize digital tools to promote them.
The International Eco-Volunteer School was organized by the Interregional Environmental Public Organization "EKA" with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation of the Russian Federation, the Russian House in Dushanbe, and the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan. The representation of Gubkin University Student Scientific Society members at external venues is carried out within the framework of the Society’s development program, "Strategy of New Discoveries."
