Gubkin University at the "Day of Russian Universities in Beijing" Exhibition

From October 29 to 30, 2025, a Russian education exhibition, organized by the Rossotrudnichestvo office in China, was held at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing. This event is an important step in strengthening cultural and academic ties between Russia and China, promotes Russian universities, and demonstrates the importance of Russian culture and the Russian language as a tool of international soft power.

Representatives of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) participated in the exhibition for the first time: Galina Moroz, an employee of the International Student Services Department, and Ning Yiwen, a postgraduate student in the Faculty of Integrated Security of the Fuel and Energy Complex, presented a wide range of educational programs and opportunities at Gubkin University for Chinese students and interacted with prospective students, their parents, and representatives of educational recruiting companies.

In 2025, more than 35 Russian universities from various regions, from Kaliningrad to the Russian Far East, participated in the educational exhibition. Over 500 people attended the exhibition. Representatives of Russian universities shared their experiences of studying in Russia live on Weibo. Over 2,000 people tuned in, and within two hours of the live broadcast, over 120,000 people had watched the recording.

Before the exhibition, an important event took place: a methodological seminar, "Day of Russian Universities in Beijing," dedicated to discussing the promotion of the Russian language and the attractiveness of Russian higher education among young Chinese. Igor Pozdnyakov, Counselor of the Russian Embassy in China and representative of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, delivered a welcoming speech. He noted a significant increase in the number of visa applications from Chinese citizens for educational trips to Russia: in 2025, this figure increased by 24% compared to the same period last year.

Seminar participants were presented with strategies for effectively promoting Russian education in the People's Republic of China and discussed the specifics of admitting Chinese citizens to Russian universities under the Russian government's state quotas. These measures help attract talented international students, strengthen partnerships, and foster a positive image of Russian universities in the international educational space.

Holding such events is crucial for expanding international cooperation in education, developing scientific potential, and fostering mutually beneficial intercultural exchange between Russia and China.
