Happy Victory Day!

Dear students, colleagues, Gubkinites!

This year we celebrate the 80th Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. May 9 is the day of our sacred memory, great joy and deep sorrow.

80 years ago, thanks to our common unity, our ancestors defeated the Nazis, defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland. Saved the world from inevitable death, misanthropic ideology. Hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, and researchers volunteered for the front.

In 1941, 53 people left the walls of the Moscow Oil Institute to join the people's militia, a total of 255 employees and students went to the front. 36 Gubkinites remained on the battlefields forever, 45 were awarded the medal "For the Defense of Moscow".

During the war years, the oil institute trained more than 1,000 engineers. Despite military actions, scientists, employees and graduates of the institute continued to develop the oil industry, discovered new oil fields, launched unique, unparalleled technologies for gas production and transportation, and made scientific discoveries. For the successful fulfillment of government assignments for the training of engineering and technical personnel and for the 25th anniversary of oil education, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 26, 1945, the Gubkin Oil Institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

On Victory Day, we bow our heads before the bright memory of all who gave their lives for our Motherland in the Great Patriotic War! We are proud of the Gubkinites, who today, in our time, multiply the glory of Russia and repeat the feat of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers! Hooray!
