University Students Win Youth Day of the International Forum "Russian Energy Week"
Students from Gubkin University won the interactive session on youth project creation during the Youth Day of the VIII International Forum "Russian Energy Week," which took place on October 17, 2025.
The forum's Youth Day is one of the key industry events for the next generation of energy professionals. This large-scale platform annually brings together the most talented and motivated young professionals and students from across Russia for discussions, exchange of experiences, and presentation of their own developments. In 2025, over 3,000 people participated in the event, underscoring its high status and importance for building a talent pool for the country's fuel and energy sector.
The forum placed particular emphasis on training future professionals for the industry. The Youth Day included:
– interactive sessions and the presentation of youth projects, where teams presented solutions in key areas of fuel and energy sector development and pitched their startups;
– a roundtable discussion on "Artificial Intelligence in Energy," dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on the industry and the transformation of HR and educational systems;
– a presentation of the "Youth Global Energy Forecast," assessing prospects through 2035;
– a discussion on "Talents and Leaders," which discussed approaches to training approximately 300,000 new employees in the fuel and energy sector by 2030 and the development of the Russian engineering school.
The "BRICS Energy Bridge: Digital Ecosystem for International Youth Cooperation in Energy" project aims to create a strategically important digital platform for interaction between young professionals from the BRICS countries, which produce over 40% of the world's energy. Its key objectives are supporting the global energy transition, actively digitalizing the fuel and energy sector, and strengthening Russia's technological sovereignty and international position in the energy sector.
The project was developed with the support of Gubkin University and the Government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra by participants of the "Yugra House" project. It was created by a team of students, including Gubkin University students Veronika Shulgina (group KO-22-14), Arseniy Butrov (group BM-24-05), Alexander Bebikov (group RG-23-08), and Alexander Gergelyuk (group RS-23-10), as well as RANEPA student Vladislav Fedorov.
Representation of members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is being implemented through a federal budget subsidy to higher education institutions for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific communities. This program, titled "Uniting Science: From Popularization to Practice," is part of the university's student scientific society development program.
