University students are winners of the 14th International Ecological Olympiad of CIS Universities

From April 14 to 25, 2025, the 14th International Ecological Olympiad of CIS Universities was held in a remote format. Teams from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan took part in the Olympiad.

The goal of the Olympiad is to improve the quality of training qualified specialists, increase students' interest in research activities, create the necessary conditions to support gifted young people, and develop human resources in the field of ecology for research, design, production, and scientific activities with integration into the international educational space.

Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) named after I.M. Gubkin University was represented by five teams: three teams from the Department of Geoecology (team leaders Anna Zenovskaya, Vladislava Zharkova and Angela Ilchenko) and two teams from the Department of Industrial Ecology (team leaders Marina Orlova and Galina Popleteyeva).

The Olympiad was held in four stages:
- Stage one - "Best Team Business Card";
- Stage two - theoretical round;
- Stage three - creative competition (essay) on the topic "Climate Change: Myth or Real Threat?";
- Stage four - practical round, topic of the round: "Development of a project for the reclamation of a solid municipal waste landfill in urbanized areas".

Two teams from the Industrial Ecology Department (Danila Andrianov, Elizaveta Medved, Anastasia Popova, Arina Saidmagomedova, Konstantin Smirnov, Denis Ganov, Valeria Ivanova, Ilnara Izmailova, Polina Kropacheva, Alexey Shcherbina) shared second place in the creative competition.

The team from the Geoecology Department (Ulyana Vasilets, Tatyana Guseva, Ekaterina Zavrazhnykh, Appolinaria Semiletopulo, Anastasia Shcheneva) took second place in the practical round. The third place in this stage was taken by the team of the Industrial Ecology Department (Danila Konstantin Andrianov, Elizaveta Medved, Anastasia Popova, Arina Saidmagomedova, Smirnov) and the team of the Geoecology Department (Ekaterina Epifanova, Ulyana Magyuga, Olga Nikolaeva, Daria Feofilaktova, Veronika Khromova).

Diplomas of various degrees for participation in all four stages were awarded to individual participants of all five teams of Gubkin University.
