University Scientists Win Awards at the "Polyus" All-Russian Forum for Young Scientists and Develop the Best Team Solution
From September 30 to October 3, 2026, the "Polyus" All-Russian Forum for Young Scientists took place in Arkhangelsk, bringing together young researchers from across the country to address pressing scientific and technological challenges.
Gubkin University was represented in the "Researchers" track by Alina Kiseleva, a first-year PhD student (group NZA-26-04, Faculty of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics), and Vasily Solodov, a sixth-year student (group RF-21-09, Faculty of Oil and Gas Field Development) and member of the Student Scientific Society.
One stage of the forum involved solving an individual case study presented by Gazprom PJSC, which focused on developing a concept for the sustainable development of a gas field on the Yamal Peninsula, taking into account environmental, social, and economic factors. Alina Kiseleva took second place and Vasily Solodov took third place in the individual case competition. During the team stage, participants worked on real-world operational challenges faced by the forum's partner companies.
Alina Kiseleva was part of the team that addressed the case study for RVK-Arkhangelsk LLC. Participants were tasked with developing a method for processing sewage sludge and integrating it into economic use. The team proposed a solution to produce a material suitable for the reclamation and restoration of disturbed lands. Following the final presentation, the team's proposal was recognized as the best solution for the case. Vasily Solodov was a member of the team that worked on the case study for Severalmaz JSC. The participants were tasked with analyzing the drying process of polymineral clay and developing proposals to upgrade the rotary dryer used for saponite raw materials. The team presented a technical solution that took into account the technological and economic constraints specified by the challenge organizers.
Participation in the forum enabled representatives from Gubkin University to apply their professional skills to real-world industrial challenges, gain experience in interdisciplinary teamwork, and present their solutions to industry experts. The team's achievements demonstrate the high level of training received by the university's young specialists and the demand for their expertise in addressing modern technological and environmental challenges.
The participation of Gubkin University Student Scientific Society members in external events is carried out as part of the society’s development program, "Strategy of New Discoveries."
