University graduates and staff received public awards by Russia's fuel, energy, and industrial complex

On October 17, 2025, as part of the international forum "Russian Energy Week," officers who participated in a special military operation were awarded insignia for their courage in combat missions. Faculty and graduates of the Gubkin University Military Training Center received public awards by Russia's fuel, energy, and industrial complex.

The awards were presented by Russian Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev, Russian Senator and co-chair of the awards committee Natalya Komarova, and Inspector General of the Russian Ministry of Defense and co-chair of the awards committee Colonel General Alexander Bezverkhny.

Lieutenant Colonel Denis Nikushin, an instructor at the Military Training Center, and Captain Nikita Logvinov and Senior Lieutenant Pavel Tsvetkov, fuel service officers from the Moscow Military District, were awarded medals "For Courage in the Performance of Combat Missions," commemorative honorary badges of R.U. Maganov, and jubilee medals "Twice Winners," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

"Military education at Gubkin University has a long tradition and dates back to the university's founding in 1930. Civic and patriotic education have always been an important part of our students' training. I believe this is why many of our graduates were able to prove themselves in the field of special military operations," noted Denis Nikushin.

In the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, the university held over 100 patriotic and volunteer events, attended by graduates, faculty, and students, including international students from 35 countries.

The history of military education at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) begins with the establishment of a military cabinet in 1930. Its mission was to train students to become reserve commanders for the Red Army's artillery. Georgy Teodori, one of the founders of military intelligence, was appointed its first military commander.

Graduates of the Military Department and the Military Training Center, which succeeded the department, made significant contributions to the development of the Red Army's pipeline forces and the Fuel Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. For example, during the Great Patriotic War, Gubkin students participated in the construction of the "Artery of Life"—the legendary pipeline along the bottom of Lake Ladoga, which supplied fuel to besieged Leningrad.

Today, the Military Training Center of Gubkin University offers training in two military specialties: "Provision of Rocket Fuel, Fuel, Lubricants, and Technical Equipment for Fuel and Lubricant Service" and "Use of Pipeline Connections for Military Units and Subdivisions."
