The First Deputy Board Member of JSC NC KazMunayGas has been awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor of Gubkin University."

Kurmangazy Iskaziyev, First Deputy Board Member of JSC NC KazMunayGas, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and Doctor of Geological and Mineral Sciences, was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor of Gubkin University." The ceremony took place on February 24, 2026, at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) in Moscow.

The honorary badge was presented by Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University.

"Kurmangazy Iskaziyev made a significant contribution to the development of the Russian and Kazakh fuel and energy sectors, particularly in the discovery of new oil deposits, the successful reconstruction of existing fields, and the development of specialized education." "Many projects have been implemented jointly with Gubkin University scientists, and I am confident that these endeavors will continue," the rector noted, commenting on the awarding of the honorary doctorate.

Viktor Martynov recalled that Gubkin University collaborates with 93 countries worldwide to implement research and educational projects that benefit the Russian economy. These include the development of oil and gas production technologies for foreign companies with Russian participation, the training of specialists for international projects, and others.

With the participation of Professor Kurmangazy Iskaziyev, the first major discovery in 25 years took place at the Karaton Podsolevaya structure in the Caspian Depression (jointly with PJSC Tatneft). The well at the Karaton Podsolevaya structure was well-founded with the active participation of specialists from the Faculty of Oil and Gas Geology and Geophysics of the I.M. Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University). According to Gubkin, this discovery confirmed the potential of the vast reef "fringe" around the main giant fields of the southern marginal zone of the Caspian Basin, and, most importantly, the largest Kashagan field.

Kurmangazy Iskaziyev is the First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, the co-author of five monographs and more than 40 articles, and provides scientific advice to students in the Faculty of Oil and Gas Geology and Geophysics at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University).
