"Gasoilers" University Hockey Team Wins Award at the Russian Oil, Gas, and Construction Workers' Union Chairman's Cup

From September 25 to 28, 2026, the fifth anniversary ice hockey tournament for the Russian Oil, Gas, and Construction Workers' Union Chairman's Cup took place at the "More Sporta" sports complex in Gorodets. The Gubkin University hockey team secured second place in Division A.

Teams representing oil and gas companies participated in the championship, including: MPO PJSC Rosneft; Fakel (Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC); MPO Tatneft Trade Union; LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez LLC; Neftyanik (OPPO PJSC Surgutneftegaz); Gazprom Mezhregiongaz LLC; Transneft – Verkhnyaya Volga JSC; and Transneft – Diascan JSC.

Gubkin University’s "Gasoilers" team advanced to the final after defeating the MPO Tatneft Trade Union team 5–3 in the semi-final. In the final match, they faced the Fakel team (Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC), ultimately finishing as runners-up.

The tournament's standout players included: Sergey Barinov (Group MO-23-04), Arseniy Sharanda (Group BB-24-02), Egor Kartezhnikov (Group GF-25-03), and Vsevolod Kamenskiy (Group AE-26-03). The strong performance at the All-Russian industry cup underscores the significant emphasis Gubkin University places on the development of student sports; it also reflects the personal support for the hockey team from Rector Viktor Martynov and Andrey Shcherbina, Chairman of the University’s Trade Union Committee. By competing on the same ice as teams from the nation’s leading oil and gas companies, the Gubkin squad not only upholds the university’s reputation but also strengthens ties between the student community and companies within Russia’s fuel and energy sector.
