General information
Specialists in the field of world economy are experts in development of world economy and international economic relations. They are well versed in global economic issues, aware of the structure of the world energy sector and energy markets, have professional knowledge in capital markets and investment in energy.
Deeper training at the Master’s level equips students with skills of forecasting economic events in a modern market economy. They have sufficient knowledge and competences to formulate and implement energy strategies of individual countries and state entities, develop national energy complexes, and ensure national and regional energy security in the long term.
Specialists in the field of strategic management understand the issues of a marketing strategy design for oil and gas companies, establishment of energy balance, interchangeability of energy resources in the energy sector as well as the issues of relationship between country and global social processes.
Master’s level graduates have knowledge of financial management, design of innovative policies and innovation management, logistics and supply chain management, conducting trading operations in global energy markets, analyzing, evaluating and forecasting market conditions and competitive positioning of a company in the analyzed market.

Areas of study and main disciplines
The Faculty of International Energy Business offers training in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in economics and management.
Students study such special disciplines as world energy in the structure of the world economy, international energy business and markets, economic and regional geography of foreign countries, national energy strategies, strategic marketing, the fundamentals of marketing research, modern strategic analysis, innovation management, strategic priorities of the world oil and gas complex, strategic management of the oil and gas complex and others.
The Faculty provides training of specialists based on the concept of continuing education, including postgraduate studies and professional development programs, professional training programs, MBA, Executive MBA and others.
Projects, initiatives, events
Annually, the Faculty hosts international scientific and practical conferences on development of the world fuel and energy complex and international conferences organized jointly with the Center for Energy Studies of Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations.
The School of Young Scientists works at the premises of the Faculty. It was established in 2014 upon the initiative of students of the Faculty under the guidance of the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Elena Telegina.
The Faculty is proud of its students who actively participate and win at various public and sports events held at Gubkin University and beyond.
Facts from history
The Faculty of International Energy Business was established in 2011 as part of Gubkin University mission to reproduce intellectual resources for the oil and gas complex. For the last years the Faculty has actively developed, and its activity has been marked by considerable achievements.
Among the faculty and staff members there are the holders of honorary titles in the field of education and development of the fuel and energy complex. Special merits of outstanding professors have been noted by the President of the Russian Federation.
In 2014 the Department of World Economy and Energy Policy was recognized as the best specialized department of the University, and in 2016 the Department confirmed its honorary title.
In 2015 by the decision of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RAE), the Department of Innovation Management was awarded a diploma of a Golden Department of Russia.
