Open Days were held at Gubkin University
On 28 November 2021, Open Days were organized at Gubkin University. Prospective students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the academic programs offered by the University and application requirements in 2022.
Open Days are a traditional event held at Gubkin University every semester, which helps prospective students to get better understanding of the academic training offered by the University, application requirements and student's life. This time the prospective students were able to receive answers to many questions directly from the University administration.
About 800 prospective students visited Gubkin University to learn about the prospects for higher education in the oil and gas field. The online broadcast was organized for those who did not have the opportunity to attend the event in person.
The event was held in the Palace of Culture «Gubkinets» named after Professor V.N. Vinogradov and was opened by a welcome message from Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University.
«Dear prospective students, today we hold another Open Day in a blended format, both offline and online. Of course, we are in favor of a live meeting, since nothing can replace live communication. Last year we spent a semester and a half remotely. Despite the fact that Gubkin Education portal worked perfect during this period, industrialists did not like the format. We agree that in this format we can transfer knowledge, but not skills. This challenge can be solved mainly by professional products, simulators, educational and industry training. Our university is very different from other Russian higher education institutions: it is small; we have fewer students than there are faculty members at Lomonosov Moscow State University. We do not pursue the quantity, rather the quality, for which we have been in charge for decades. We provide future graduates with knowledge as well as an opportunity to do science, help reach new peaks, transforming school leavers into professionals. We will be glad to see talented and smart young people among us who will to develop personally and are capable to advance the most important industry of the country», – noted Professor Viktor Martynov in his welcoming message to the event participants.
Mr. Viktor Pirozhkov, Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee, and Mr. Anton Tumanov, Head of the Department of Youth Projects and Initiatives, greeted the event participants and answered their questions.
After the general event, the faculty meetings were held to provide the prospective students with more details about the faculties, academic programs, admission requirements, and the academic process. In addition, during these meetings the prospective students got a chance to see Gubking University classrooms, laboratories and technical equipment available at various faculties.
