Gubkin University experts participated in the round table held by Rossiya Segodnya

On 17 October 2022, a round table aimed to discuss the prospects of the Russian fuel and energy complex and new international projects in the energy sector was held at the international media group Rossiya Segodnya.

Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, Mr. Nikita Golunov, Vice-Rector for Continuing Professional Education of Gubkin University, Mr. Vyacheslav Mishchenko, Head of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies for the Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Faculty of Integrated Security of the Fuel and Energy Complex at Gubkin University, as well as Professor Leonid Grigoryev, Academic Supervisor of the School of World Economy of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at HSE University, participated in the meeting. Mr. Konstantin Simonov, Director General of the National Energy Security Fund, Professor of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, joined the event online.

During the press conference, the experts discussed the issues of the gas pipeline system and the recent damage of Nord Stream, the energy security of Russia, the legal aspects of international cooperation in the energy sector. In addition, the participants talked about the creation of a gas hub in Turkey and the law enforcement practice of this project.

“I do not believe that Europe will refuse Russian gas in the long term, and it is impossible to replace it with LNG. Moreover, no one has such volumes of gas as Russia. Now various options for supply and opening of new markets are being considered – China, transit through Mongolia, a gas hub in Turkey,” noted Professor Viktor Martynov while answering the question of the conceptual development of the national oil and gas industry.

In this context, Professor Leonid Grigoryev outlined the economic aspects and prospects for changes in prices for natural gas and oil. Mr. Nikita Golunov spoke about the legal practice and responsibility for the safety of gas pipeline transport in cases where it goes through the territories of third countries. Mr. Vyacheslav Mishchenko highlighted the issues of pricing and infrastructure development in view of creating the Turkish Hub.
