Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov participated in the opening of the EnerGenius case marathon
On 26 November 2020, the new cycle of the educational project "EnerGenius” was launched online. The core event of the project will be a case marathon, which will be held in the format of a business game combined with online learning. Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University took part in the opening ceremony.
For three months, the participants of the case marathon, divided into teams, will solve the tasks close to real ones faced by the oil and gas companies. Each team will be guided by a curator who has practical experience in the industry facilities. The final presentations of the projects and the awarding of winners will be held in February 2021 in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra within the 4th International Youth Scientific and Practical Forum “Oil Capital”. In addition, the participants of the marathon will take classes as part of the winter school organized by the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.
About 150 secondary school students and junior university students from various regions of Russia and neighboring countries, who passed competitive selection, participate in the EnerGenius case marathon.
The educational project is aimed at expanding and deepening the knowledge of young people about the oil and gas industry, involving in the industry the most capable and motivated representatives of the new generation, promoting career guidance and professional training.
The participants of the case marathon were greeted by Mr. Tor Fjaeran, President of the World Petroleum Council, Mr. Kirill Molodtsov, Assistant Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Mr. Maxim Novikov, Deputy Director of the Department of Mineral Resource Management and Natural Resources of KhMAO-Yugra, Ms. Elena Vladimirskaya, First Deputy Chair of the Education Committee of St. Petersburg, Ms. Nana Gvichia, Deputy Chair of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg, Ms. Ulrike von Lonski, Executive Director of the World Petroleum Council, and Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University.
On the first day of the case marathon, two master classes on geological exploration and development of hydrocarbon deposits were organized for the participants by the representatives of Surgutneftegas PJSC and Slavneft-Megionneftegas PJSC.
The educational project “EnerGenius” is implemented by the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council with the support of the executive authorities of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra and St. Petersburg, Gubkin University and Saint-Petersburg Mining University, the International Competence Centre for Mining-Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO, Surgutneftegas PJSC, Gazprom Neft PJSC, Slavneft-Megionneftegas PJSC, and SIBUR Holding PJSC.
