Gubkin University faculty members are the leaders of the technical forums of the 24th World Petroleum Congress

The Program Committee of the World Petroleum Council announced the results of the competitive selection of leaders of the technical forums of the 24th World Petroleum Congress that will be held on 17-21 September 2023 in Calgary, Canada. Among the seven Russian candidates, three are represented by Gubkin University faculty members.

Among the delegates from Gubkin University are:

• Ms. Elena Fedorova, Head of the Department of Oil Refining and Gas Processing Equipment, elected as Vice Chair of the Forum "Innovations in LNG and Floating LNG Facility for the Energy Transition”
• Mr. Nikolay Eremin, Professor of the Department of Oil Field Development and Operation, elected as Deputy Chair of the Forum "New Technologies in Geoscience”
• Ms. Vlada Streletskaya, Assistant of the Department of Offshore Oil and Gas Field Development and Assistant to the Rector, elected as Deputy of the Forum “Competences and Skills in the Energy Transition”

In addition to the meeting of the Program Committee of the World Petroleum Council, a meeting of the World Petroleum Council was held in Houston, USA, where Mr. Anatoly Zolotukhin, Advisor to the Rector of Gubkin University, Professor of the Department of Petroleum Reservoir Engineering, was extended as Senior Vice President of the World Petroleum Council for a new three-year cycle.

At the same meeting, Ms. Lesana Kurbonshoeva, a graduate of the Department of Offshore Oil and Gas Field Development, was elected as Chair of the Youth Committee of the World Petroleum Council.

The triennial World Petroleum Congress is widely known as the “Olympics” of the petroleum industry and covers all aspects of the industry from technological advances in upstream and downstream operations to the role of natural gas and renewables, management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental.
