Vice-Rector of Gubkin University visited China to strengthen educational ties

On July 20 -23, 2017 the Vice-Rector for Continuing Professional Education, Associate professor of the Department of Gas and Oil Pipelines Engineering and Operation Nikita Golunov visited China University of Petroleum (Qingdao, China).

During the first part of the visit, the Vice-Rector Nikita Golunov held a meeting with the delegation from China University of Petroleum led by the Vice-President Li Zhaomin. At the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation in implementation of academic programs and agreed to continue collaboration on Bachelor’s and Master's degree programs, professional development programs as well as teaching Russian language for students and faculty members from China University of Petroleum at Gubkin University.

The Vice-President Li Zhaomin expressed his gratitude to Gubkin University for support provided by the faculty and staff members in 70s during the establishment of China University of Petroleum in Beijing. Li Zhaomin particularly emphasized that this support enabled China University of Petroleum to develop dynamically, create a network of branches, where later on at the premises of one of such branches China University of Petroleum in Qingdao was established.

In return, the Vice-Rector Nikita Golunov noted that “at the moment Russian-Chinese relations are at a very high level thank to the presidents of both countries, despite the negative information glut around the two countries. This mutual high level of trust should enable both universities to build constructive, mutually beneficial relations, resulting in expansion in a number of trained students, practical trainings for faculty and new academic programs".

During the second part of the visit, the Vice-Rector Nikita Golunov took part in the Asia Pacific Pipeline Conference with the presentation “Transformation of the Energy Space and the Hydrocarbon Logistics Model in Asia-Pacific Region”. The presentation was focused on the main trends in development of transport infrastructure for energy resources, taking into account the adopted New Silk Road concept, key trends in development of the oil and gas complex in Russia and China, future-oriented areas for development of hydrocarbon logistics based on analysis and special characteristics of the Chinese energy structure and competitive advantages of the oil and gas projects implemented by Russian companies. Special attention was paid to training specialists for high-tech projects, the main elements for creating a new academic environment taking into account the virtual environment of production activity at Gubkin University, and to key competencies of specialists trained for oil, gas and energy companies in transformation of the paradigm of industrial development: from subsoil development to global sustainable development.
