Open seminars "Present and Future of Russian Oil Refining" were held at Gubkin University for Russian and international students

On 5 – 7 July 2021, open seminars "Present and Future of Russian Oil Refining" were held at Gubkin University. The seminars were organized for Russian and international students at the Department of Oil Refining Technology in the Virtual Oil Refinery.

Mr. Vladimir Kapustin, Professor of the Department of Oil Refining Technology, and Mr. Roman Khakimov, Assistant of the Department of Oil Refining Technology, delivered a series of open introductory seminars covering the main areas of the development of the oil refining industry in Russia. The seminars outlined the main factors in the development of oil refining and petrochemistry in Russia and worldwide, global energy trends and the role of hydrocarbons in sustainable energy transition.

In addition, the participants received the opportunity to attend interactive classes in the training center “Virtual Oil Refinery” conducted by Mr. Roman Khakimov. Students learned about the main technological units, equipment and installations at the oil refinery, and the principles of control, regulation and management using specialized distributed technological process control systems that simulate a real production cycle.

Among the participants of open seminars were representatives of various Russian universities located in Moscow and international students from Algeria, Turkmenistan, Senegal and Belarus.
