The Student Scientific Society activist became SDG 14 Youth Ambassador in Russia

On 20 May 2021, the expert committee of the SDG Youth Ambassadors in Russia Program announced the results of the competitive selection for 2021. Ms. Anfisa Kharybina, an activist of the Student Scientific Society at Gubkin University, became SDG 14 Youth Ambassador in Russia.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda), which contains 17 universal and overarching goals (SDGs) and 169 targets aimed at creating a better world for all humanity, was adopted by the United Nations Member States on 25 September 2015.

To mobilize the young generation of Russia for contributing to the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda, the SDG Youth Ambassadors in Russia Program was launched in 2017. The Program is a public non-profit project of the National Youth Council of Russia implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, UN Information Centre in Moscow and Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.

SDG Youth Ambassadors in Russia are 17 young civil society representatives, selected based on their proven success in the implementation of one of the SDGs for a period of one year in order to raise awareness and engage their peers in tackling key global challenges. The activity of the Youth Ambassadors is honorable and is carried out on a voluntary basis.

We congratulate Ms. Anfisa Kharybina and wish her good luck as the Youth Ambassador in Russia for the Sustainable Development Goal 14 “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development”!
