On 17 April 2020, Gubkin University celebrates its 90th anniversary. A special event will be held in the Palace of Culture "Gubkinets" on 23 October 2020. Since 1930, the University has trained over 100,000 highly qualified specialists who work on the development of the natural wealth of the country – oil and gas reserves. Today, the University holds a leading position in research and training specialists for the oil and gas sector of Russia.
The special event will be opened Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University. The program will include greetings from business leaders and government representatives, a concert prepared with the use of modern technologies. Participation in the event is by invitation only.
Today, over 12,000 students from all regions of Russia and 81 country of the world study at Gubkin University. The University applies intensively the interdisciplinary approach to training and innovative teaching methods and technologies of virtual reality based on interactive full-scale simulators, computer models and systems such as Virtual Field, Virtual Oil and Gas Transportation System, Virtual Oil Refinery, etc. The bachelor's programs in petroleum engineering offered by Gubkin University obtained international accreditation in 2016 and received a European certification mark of quality. The University cooperates actively with the leading foreign universities as well in order to develop various training programs.
In cooperation with Rosneft and Gazprom, the University implements long-term projects to create a comprehensive multi-level educational technology and infrastructure for training specialists in the development of the Arctic and Eastern Siberian reserves and transportation of hydrocarbon products to the Asia-Pacific region.
Gubkin University is part of the consortium established jointly by Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow State University and Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology with the participation of Gazprom Neft as a business partner. A similar format of integration also works with LUKOIL and Zarubezhneft.
Gubkin University cooperates actively with international universities and companies from Austria, France, Norway, China, USA, Great Britain, and Germany.
The merits of Gubkin University are highly evaluated by the state. Over the past 12 years, the University has received six prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation in education and eight prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation in science and technology.
Gubkin University is consistently ranked among the top technical universities in Russia and occupies respected positions in international rankings, including Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds.
